Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. She has released more than 20 albums. Her songs are classified by the label as alternative and folk. However, they also are influenced by hip-hop, jazz and punk. Ani DiFranco is widely recognized as an icon of women's rights and Grammy-winning artist is considered to be the first founder of DIY music. She was one of the first artists to start their own labels in the year 90. DiFranco's parents, Elizabeth (Ross), a previous student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each other while they were both attending.
